Gameweek 8 - Gaining Lost Ground

Results from Gameweek 7:

Although I scored a measly 44 points this week. I think I did okay in comparison with the top 20% of players in Gameweek 7. There are a lot of should haves/ifs but I'm not going to be bothered by that.

I made 2 early changes for Gameweek 8 before news broke that Wilson will be out for up to 6 months. Hence, I did not manage to transfer him out as I did not want to take a hit on points. As it is, I'm bringing in 2 players, thus I'll have a -4 deduction this gameweek,

I transferred out Mings for Dann.

Dann has been a solid Crystal Palace defender for the past few games. In addition, he is merely owned by less than 4%. With a decent price and good fixtures. I do expect some cleansheets and if I'm lucky, a goal or two.

I transferred out Chadli for Redmond.

Chadli has fallen through the pecking order and he might not get regular game time. I do not want a player who comes in at the last 20 minutes only to play a defensive role. Hence, I switched him for the more dynamic Redmond who has been red-hot this season.

My current rank lies around the top 15% but I'm aiming to finish in the top 10% after this gameweek.

The obvious choice of captain this week is Aguero. I don't think there is any debate on that.

Gamweek 7 - Indie Team for the Win

Results from Gameweek 6:

I'm very pleased over what happened during Gameweek 6. It was made even better that my automatic substitutions worked in my favour. Let's hope we can carry this momentum (is it even fair to call it a momentum) over to this week.

Gameweek 7

I couldn't find any good reason to keep Hazard. I don't think he is a bad player at all, but the exiting morale at Stamford Bridge will definitely dampen his confidence and hunger to win. Playing poorly for the last 5 games, by any standards, forces me to drop him. Freeing him seemed to be the most sensible as he cost the most. I now have plenty of money to make changes to my team.

I have swapped out Hazard for Payet is so hot right now. One of my key strategies was the ride the bandwagon early - which I did for Mahrez. Beyond just an incredible streak of luck, Payet is an on-ball genius with impeccable technical skills coupled with great vision. He not only knows where or how the most difficult pass is, but he also possess the risk-appetite in him to make such passes. I may sound like his wife now so I'll stop here.

I have also traded for Sakho for Diouf because of the possible of injured Diouf and also as an insurance for Payet. If Payet doesnt score or assist, then it must be true that Sakho is doing it all on his own. If both manages to perform well, than hurray for me. If not, I'll have to include the word 'Faith' in my next post for goodluck.

Below is my team for GW7. Good luck one and all.

Possibly switching Chadli for Wilson. Still contemplating.

Gameweek 6 - No Change Just Faith

Last week's results

Last week's was nothing short of disastrous. Everything that could go wrong went wrong and it seems like its a common occurrence every week. Rather than blame bad luck, I'm back at it again evaluating fixtures, looking 3-4 weeks ahead to test the robustness of my team.

After looking through the transfer market and not see any immediate need to bring in any ''must-have'' player, I've decided to save my FT and make a change next Gameweek instead. Perhaps I should not term players ''must-haves'' as they have a tendency to flop in recent times.

My captain remains as Aguero, Arguably I could captain Wilson instead. My vote for each sways back and forth, akin to a voter in Iowa State. I may very well make a last minute switch and captain Wilson instead.

Players I need to trade out - Mings and Azpi.

Cheers Mate.

Gameweek 5 - International Break for football players or FPL players?

This is my result from Gameweek 4:

Another dismal week for me. With 2 players from my bench scoring a combined 19 points, I can't help but feel frustrated and annoyed at the same time. My last 2 gameweeks only seem decent because of Wilson who has been single-handedly keeping me afloat.

Let's look forward to Gameweek 5. I'm very excited this week not only because its a new week which promises hope and success, but because I tried FIFA 16 Demo version and I really liked it. I played with Manchester City, one of the 10 default teams, and felt very comfortable using Aguero and Toure. As such, both shall lead my team this week against Crystal Palace. No doubt Crystal Palace has superb form and a defiant defence, but character and class trumps all.

The rest of my players remain fairly unchanged from previous week. I haven't found any reason to make any major changes to my team. If possible, I do want to save my free transfer next week and go for a major change in 2 weeks times.

Trust me lads, for this week matches, just sit back with a beer and enjoy the matches, don't fret over your FPL team.

Gameweek 4 - A week to remember

Update: Some of my followers have asked that I show my weekly score and I shall very well do that.

Gameweek 3 score :

Hi Guys,

I must say I'm rather satisfied with last week's performance. I'm very disappointed with Rooney especially since he scored a hattrick against Brugge during their champions league qualification.

Looking at the overall robustness of my team (measured against schedules and form thus far), I think this team can take me far. A few minor tweaks I need is getting in a keeper that can be fixture-proof (possibly hart/cech) and a cheap keeper who actually plays (Mccarthly from CP). I also need to trade out Mings for a cheap pound-for-pound defender (what does that term even mean?).

It comes to no surprise that Wilson scored 3 goals last Gameweek. He definitely has the talent and has been the main goal-scorer for Bournemouth. They have a fairly lethal attack force but unfortunately, their defence is pretty bad.

Benteke has yet to fully assimilate into the Liverpool team and the next few games will determine whether I'll keep him in the long term.

Mahrez is on absolute fire. I'll keep it for as long as his form last. Once its gone, he'll be gone from my team as well.

I think all the other players are pretty standard - Hazard racking up an assist as he should be doing; Yaya Toure also notching an assist; Chadli likewise.

With all the above being said, I present you Gameweek 4. I'm going to play as many 'Home' players as I can. The current results are wayyy too skewed towards 'Away' wins.

I'm still tossed between captaining Benteke or Diouf. As of now, its Benteke. But I'll do a quick review and may very well decide to do a last minute switch.

Current Rank: 587, 451

Gameweek 3 - A Brighter Tomorrow

I'm barely in the top 50% right now, a position that makes me uncomfortable as it does not allow me to boast of my superior skills. Having done so much homework with NUMBERS over the last few weeks, I'm definitely saddened but ultimately undeterred by this.

Looking at GW3, I made 2 early transfers and got in Yaya Toure and Mahrez for Wanyama and Walcott. Getting these 2 out were no-brainers but choosing who to replace them became more difficult.

Yaya Toure - He is pure quality. Granted he did not perform well last season, I do believe that this may be his revival season. He may start to take penalities again  and in time to time, nick some balls into the back of the net.

Mahrez - He is cheap, he has assists, he has form and most importantly, I like to jump onto the bandwagon until Leicester proves otherwise. I haven't watched him play yet but stats don't lie.

This week, I'll scrutinize most games and make a fair assessment of all my players.

I may transfers the 2 ''untouchables'' next week should they not perform.

I may regret this but my gut tells me to captain Rooney (has a good record against the Magpies) and that's what I'm going to do.

Gameweek 2 - I might start to shit bricks soon

No doubt. Gameweek 1 was horrendous but I'm still not too worried yet. I have a solid team with good coverage in all areas. I'm not planning to switch any players out yet because I'm giving all the benefit of the doubt - first game jitters, and that they'll be able to show their 'true form' in GW 2. Needless to say, some players true form may be perpetually letting in goals faster that you rev your Bugatti, or their form may be hitting the crossbar to show Ronaldinho that he is not alone in craving for nike ads, worse of all, their true form may be carrick-like and pass the ball towards his own goal 99% of the time.

Beneteke is my captain of choice this week and I hope their opening game at Anfield will prove to be a memorable one. I feel the energy at Anfield reviving slowly but surely.

My entire midfield has the potential to do really well this game week as most are somewhat attacking players. Hazard has the hardest game but hazard is the reigning player of the year right? He should be indispensable....for now.

My only regret thus far is bringing in Mings instead of Francis for Bournemouth because he is not in favour to start games.

With all that being said, I will not reveal who I'm bringing in and who I'm axing because I'm not sure myself either. But I do like the fact that I have 1.5 milly in the bank such that I can get almost any player I want.

I present you GW2!

Friday, August 7, 2015

It is the time of the year where fpl warriors awake from their slumber and change their teams 5 times a day. Every warrior is undecided between taking in Aguero now or waiting until he is back with full fitness. I followed some rules strictly when choosing my GW1 Team.

1. Hazard and Rooney are must-haves. Hazard has been exceptional last season and he creates and scores. Although seemingly a little sluggish in pre-season games, he always shines when the games matter. Rooney is going to play as and out and out striker after the departure of Falcao. Rooney plays best in the central midfield role because he is a ball winner coupled with the fact that he usually passes forward unlike Carrick. However, when thrust back into his old role as a striker, I'm confident he'll put the goals in for Manchester.

2. Defence Team that doesnt require much transfer and have good rotation. For a large number of defenders, their scores have the lowest variance compared to midfielders and attackers. They will consistently score the same number of points every week without much fluctuation in prices. There are exceptions to the rule: Ivanovic

3. Think about possible transfers in future. I definitely want to bring in Aguero at some point and also bring in any ''in-form'' player. Thus, I'm clear of my team changes when an opportunity presents itself.

With that said, I present you my GW1 team.

Wednesday, April 22, 2015

Hello once again.

Work seems to bog me down time and time again and I should be more consistent.

This is a very important gameweek because 1. It is a double gameweek for some teams. 2. It is the week that I use my wildcard.

Liverpool, Chelsea, Hull and Leicester play twice this gameweek but for obvious reasons, I'm not going to invest in any Hull players. The same reasoning can be used for Leicester players except for the fact that they are a team that can actually score goals and their recent form has been good. Thus, I've decided to bring in King. Did I mention that he is cheap and has low ownership?

It looks almost certain that Chelsea will bring home the title this season and will do some by play somewhat more defensively. No team is going to risk losing the title with adventurous attacking play. The attacking team may rotate to give other players a chance, but the defensive team should certainly remain status quo. For that reason, I've decided to bring in Cahill and Courtois. Terry and Ivanovic are too expensive while Azpilicueta may be rotated with Luis, thus Cahill is the obvious choice.

Skrtel plays a double gameweek too and they'll be fully focused on trying to attain 4th place in BPL. He will have no problem achieving game time, and possibly some cleansheets especially against Hull and West Brom. Because of his number of tackles and his tendency to venture into to opponent's half during corners, he has a high chance to bag extra/bonus points.

Lescott is a good substitute for Wisdom, which is by far my greatest burden this season. Clyne and Wollscheid are good alternatives and reasonably priced.

Midfielders are the gamechangers this seasons, they frequently attain the most points for every game week. I shall not talk about the obvious - Harzard, Sanchez. I've mentioned King already. Bolasie looks to be on form and is a very skillful player with Alan Pardew doing a really good job at Crystal Palace. Likewise, Henderson is emerging as the new leader in Liverpool. He is a box to box midfielder who can provide assist. The only person who may 'steal' these assist is Coutinho. Was considering getting Countiho in but Henderson is much cheaper!

The only top grade/expensive striker getting is Aguero. He is not injured and he can score both Home and Away. Kane is another must-have in FPL and Austin has an erratic form but proves to be lethal in front of goal.

I've made 8 changes to my team and this is the team that is going to carry me forward to the end of the season.

Wish me luck.

It's Gametime AGAIN!

I'm having a really horrific backline with my new signing naughton getting injured and Wisdom still not getting gametime. However, I'm not opting to take a 4 point hit as I'll be using my wildcard fairly soon (most likely week 34).

Therefore, my most optimal decision now is to bring in players who can bring in points for this game week. I always favour a home team because statistically speaking, most teams play better at home than away. Among all the fixtures, perhaps the biggest disparity in terms of skill/form/goal tally is between Saints vs Hull. Hull has a terrible away record while Saints are solid at home. Granted that Saints haven't exactly been doing well in the last few games, but they have enough quality to put in multiple goals against a demoralized side. Don't get about that  8 - 0 that happened earlier this season, I'm looking to Pelle as many Top players do not have him in their team. I watched him play for Italy during the International week and its evident that he still poses a threat in the air/ground. This game is also important for Saints if they want to remain in contention for a Euro spot. Saints will definitely field their strongest side, which includes Pelle!

Week 31

Apologies for posting this after the gameweek is over. It has been a crazy week for me but it's not a valid excuse for my tardiness.

My analysis was done before the match and I chose to bring in Ki because there was a possibility that Ozil and Costa would not play, hence I needed coverage in the midfield. I chose to bench Ki as I wanted Ozil and Costa to play, and have Ki as my back-up. Wisdom doesn't seem to be getting game time even though West Brom has a injuries-filled backline. It's time for me to sub him out but I'll wait until I use my wildcard before taking him out. Don't want to take a point hit especially since my general game plan is to play with 3 defenders.

Post-match analysis:

Who would have thought that Ki would have scored and attained a score of 9. However, looking back, I doubt I'll have done anything differently. Going forward, Costa seems to be injured for at least another week, but I have to consider Chelsea having a DGW soon; Aguero seems to have lost his form and has a derby match-up against a resurgent Man United next week; Downing has lost his first half season form and is satisfied getting a weekly 2 point; I'm heavily invested in Spurs with 3 players when their form has been erratic.

I'll consider all these factors and most likely look to bringing in a midfielder/forward. Stay tune as I'll make my decision much earlier this time! And that's a promise.

Below is how I performed for this past gameweek.

Germany vs Australia

Early this morning, Germany hosted Australia in an International Friendly where the visitors held the hosts to a 2-2 draw. For anyone who watched the match, you would know that the Aussies could have snatched this one. The reason I watched this game is because Mesut Ozil (whom I think is one of the best creators in the game) was playing coupled with the fact that the game is World Champs vs Asian Champs!

Marco Reus is such a smart, fast and skillful player such that I reckon he will excel in England. I'm positive many big English clubs will be vying for him this coming summer and I have no doubt I'll choose him for my 2015/2016 season. Mesut Ozil played a decent game with a key pass that eventually led to Podolski equalizer. Many critics argue that he is one lazy player but I beg to defer. Perhaps its his lanky frame and awkward jogging posture that makes him look lazy. This couldn't be further from the truth as statistically, he is one of the more hardworking player in Arsenal's midfield.

Although he is listed as 75% fit to play next week, I'm confident he'll play and make a decent impact for Arsenal against Liverpool. I'll post my team close to the gameweek after all the international friendlies.

Btw, I might upload some fifa 15 gameplay soon too!

Hi Guys,

This is my first official post and you can expect me to update this site regularly. Allow me to give a short introduction and what gave rise to this site. I have always been a avid football player and fan of Arsenal. During my teenage years, I would spent loads of my time watching and punting (to a small extent) football to fully immerse myself in the game. 2 years ago I was introduced to fantasy premier league by my friends and have been hooked since. The best feature of the game is that it takes everything into consideration. Most expensive players do not necessarily translate to high points. The skill factors in the game includes scouting for cheap/unknown players, understanding home field advantage, considering form of players and club, realizing the toughness of the schedule, calculating price/point worth, strategically planning your transfers etc. Of course another big element is the luck factor.

From now until the end of the season, I will post my team at least 24 hours before the window to make changes closes. In addition, I will give a brief breakdown on why I have chose my team as such. Feel free to comment and rate my team.

For the entire season, I have been ranked in the top 2% consistently and I hope to finish the season in the top 0.5%. I am currently ranked 13 200+ with my wildcard still in hand.

Peace
